General Information Natural Resources Canada maintains an informative Introduction to Volcanoes web site. Be sure to check out the map of Canadian volcanoes by following the previous link, or by clicking here.   The United States Geological Survey maintains a volcano hazards web site that is an excellent source for general information.   The Smithsonian also maintains a web site on its global volcanism project.   Another good source for general information is a web site hosted by the Geology Department at San Diego State University.   The Montreal Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre, maintained by Environment Canada, provides interesting information about volcanic ash, information about volcanoes, and links to other sites.   Volcano World is a great site for everything you want to know about volcanoes!     Hawai'i Volcanoes Information about volcanoes on the island of Hawai'i can be found at the National Park Service web site.     Italian Volcanoes Information about Italian volcanoes, including Mt. Etna and Vesuvius.     Krakatoa A contemporary account of the eruption of Krakatoa in August, 1883. This event resulted in the deaths of nearly 37,000 people.     Volcano Safety The Red Cross offers tips on staying safe before, during, and after a volcano.     Volcano Images The NASA Earth Observatory Web site provides satellite images of recent volcanic activity.
