OXFORD celebrates Elements of Sociology author John Steckley

On May 10th, OUP Canada celebrated the publication of the second edition of Elements of Sociology, authored by John Steckley (Humber College) and Guy Kirby Letts (York University). The second edition of this groundbreaking introductory sociology textbook was launched over a lavish lunch at Humber College, where faculty from across the college were invited to celebrate the publication and to meet John Steckley.

Nancy Reilly, acquisitions editor for the project, spoke about John Steckley's commitment to teaching and his goal of helping students understand the world around them: 'OUP is very proud of our association with John and we very much enjoy working with this master storyteller and caring educator. The laughs and good nature John brought to the project, along with a whole lot of dedication, continues to make the book stand out in the market.'

Written by Canadian instructors for Canadian students, the first edition of Elements of Sociology was warmly welcomed by sociology instructors and students looking for a text that provided a relevant, engaging introduction to sociology. This fantastic reception—which resulted in thousands of copies sold—spurred the creation of a second edition.
