* Phonemic awareness
* Vocabulary development

This evaluation pack features letters A through Z with 23 titles, one for each letter except Q & U, and X, Y, & Z.

On the cover:
* An illustrated scene featuring some or all of the vocabulary in the book. Great for warm-up oral language exercises that preload the book's content.
* Rough, textured letters on each cover allows for finger tracing and letter formation activities.
* The title page features each Letter · Buddy who asks a warm-up question (same for each title).
* The inside cover shows all of the Letter Buddies and highlights the relevant one.

Inside the book:
* Each word begins with the same starting sound (all vowels are short). Good for phonemic awareness.
* Each word is introduced in lowercase letters. The letters have been spaced out so that each one is discernible to the untrained eye.
* Photographs are bright, vivid, and colourful.
